  • POLLUTION CONTROL DEPARTMENT: ENVIRONMENTAL BIOTECHNOLOGY, R&D and TECHNOLOGY.
    • Bio-treatment of complex industrial effluents.
    • Research projects with a variety of Universities.
    • Process Optimization for the bio-treatment of wastewater and waste gases.
    • Process Design (new plants, upgrading or extension) and plant start ups.
    • Consulting in Environment Technologies (company sites and customers)
    • Design/start-up of over 40 industrial plants, more than 100 feasibility studies.

MAIN INNOVATIONS:

  • Development and commercialization of “Bayer-Tower biology“ a new type of WWTP (team)
  • First full-scale plant for nitrification of ammonia-rich effluents (SHELL, Wesseling)   
  • Levafloc-R, organic flocculant for reactive dyestuffs.
  • First full-scale plant for treatment of landfill leachates in Germany
  • First full-scale plant for anaerobic-aerobic treatment of hazardous pulp mill effluents by immobilized microorganisms (SAPPI, Ehingen, Germany)
  • Adsorbing, porous PUR-carrier for microorganisms (LEVAPOR)
  • Selected  mixed cultures for biodegradation of xenobiotic pollutants

PATENTS: More than 20  PUBLICATIONS, LECTURES: Worldwide  AWARDS: Otto-Bayer-Medal for the development of Bayer-Tower biology.
